Since most of Bernice's formal training has been in Portraiture, she is
known for capturing the personality of her subjects in a profound way.
Also appreciating the beauty of landscapes and still life, she enjoys
portraying the magic of light and color in the seasonal changes. Being
an optimist, Brown tends to see things at their best, and to portray
their beauty with enthusiasm. Her commissioned portraits include Dwight
D. Eisenhower and Robert E. Lee (in schools named for them), Red Adair
-oil well firefighter, Don Williams - Country Western Singer, Ministers
and University Professors, as well as many families, children and their
pets. A wide variety of subjects!
Brown's paintings have been included by invitation into four Exhibits at
the Cowboy Artists of America Museum. Having won many awards, her work
is deeply influenced by Teacher/Mentors: Howard Terpning, Harley Brown,
Everett Raymond Kinstler, Robert K. Abbett, Dan Gerhartz, Grant Speed,
Bob Wygant, and others.
Member of Portrait Society of America, Bernice is also proficient in
other subject matter and is a popular teacher/lecturer and
author/illustrator of children's books. Brown is a Judge and Life Member
of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, helping to award College
Scholarships to many deserving students over the past 24 years.
Limited Edition Prints and Note cards are available.

my paintings encourage a person to more deeply observe and appreciate
the simple things in their surroundings, then I have truly communicated
